Clayton Elliott

Carthage High School junior Clayton Elliott has qualified to compete in the UIL State Lincoln-Douglas Debate Tournament, which will be held May 19-20 at the University of Texas at Austin.

Elliott earned his spot at the state level following a strong showing at the regional tournament, where he advanced through multiple rounds of competition to place third in a very competitive region and punch his ticket to the state tournament.

CHS Debate Coach Julissa DeJulian praised Elliott’s commitment, stating, ā€œClayton is one of the most disciplined and driven students I’ve ever coached. He puts in the work, day in and day out, and this accomplishment is a direct result of that. I’m proud of him, and I know he’ll hold his own at state.ā€

Elliott will represent Carthage High School alongside top qualifiers from across Texas during the two-day tournament hosted by the University Interscholastic League. The event brings together elite student competitors from across the state.
