Carthage ISD is proud to announce that 16 members of the Carthage High School Battlin’ Bulldog Band have advanced to the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest (TSSEC), an honor reserved for the most elite high school musicians in the state. These students earned top ratings at the regional level, qualifying them to compete at the state level at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville on May 24 & 26.
“These talented Bulldogs have put in countless hours of hard work and dedication,” said Carthage ISD Band Director Johnnie Cotton. “We are proud of how they represent Carthage ISD with excellence, both musically and in character.”

The Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest is hosted by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and brings together the state’s most accomplished high school musicians to perform for collegiate-level judges. More information about the competition is available at www.uiltexas.org/music/tssec.
