❤️ Celebrating Mrs. Davis for Principal Appreciation Month! ❤️ CHS students and staff came together to show Mrs. Davis just how much she is appreciated! Mrs. Armstrong’s students created a special Principal Appreciation poster and invited students to sign it. Mrs. Smith’s Culinary students prepared one of Mrs. Davis’ favorite lunches, Monte Cristo sandwiches, while Mrs. Harris’ Floral Design classes created a beautiful fall bouquet. The CHS staff also surprised her with a spa gift and card. And to make the moment even more special, Emma’s kids helped capture the picture! 📸 We are thankful for Mrs. Davis and the leadership, care, and dedication she brings to CHS each day. 🌟🍎 EDUCATION PRACTICUM STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: JUSTICE COLBERT 🍎🌟

We’re excited to recognize Carthage High School junior Justice Colbert as this week’s Education Practicum Student Spotlight! ❤️🖤🐾

Justice is completing her practicum at Baker-Koonce Intermediate School with mentor teacher Andy McNaughton, where she is gaining valuable hands-on experience in a fourth-grade resource classroom. 📚✏️

McNaughton says Justice stands out because of her caring heart, cheerful spirit, and dedication to helping students. She takes initiative, looks for ways to support the classroom, and continues to show a willingness to learn and grow each day. 🌟🙌

Some of the moments McNaughton appreciates most are the everyday ones when Justice sees a student who needs help and willingly steps in. Her helpful nature and genuine care for others have made her a valued part of the classroom. ❤️

When asked to describe Justice in one word, McNaughton chose DEDICATED. 💪🍎

Her advice to Justice is to keep the caring heart, cheerful spirit, and willingness to learn that she already brings to the classroom. She believes Justice has a bright future in education and looks forward to seeing the difference she will make in the lives of students. ❤️📚

This week, Carthage High School is proud to celebrate our TSA students and the teachers who help make those opportunities possible every day.

Through hands-on projects, competitions, leadership activities, community service, and career-focused experiences, TSA gives students the chance to create, problem-solve, collaborate, and build skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

We are incredibly proud of our students for the time, effort, creativity, and dedication they bring to TSA, and we are just as thankful for the teachers who guide them, challenge them, encourage them, and invest so much into helping them grow.

National TSA Week is a great opportunity to recognize the students who step up to take on new challenges and the educators who help inspire the next generation of innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers.

Our Carthage High School National Honor Society members were proud to spend part of their weekend giving back to the community at Potlatch 2026! 🎉

CHS NHS students volunteered in the Kids Zone, helping keep activities running smoothly, assisting families and children, and doing their part to make one of Carthage’s favorite community traditions a little more fun for everyone.

National Honor Society is about more than academics. It also represents leadership, character, and service — and we are proud to see our students putting those qualities into action beyond the walls of Carthage High School.

If your family qualified last school year, please make sure you have reapplied for this school year. Eligibility from the previous year does not continue indefinitely, and families who have not submitted a new application may see their current meal discount end beginning Monday. We also encourage all Carthage ISD families to apply, even if you are unsure whether your household will qualify. Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals can receive their regular school breakfast and lunch at no cost, thanks to continued state funding. Qualifying may also help students access additional opportunities such as reduced testing fees, college application fee waivers, financial aid resources and scholarships. Congratulations to Addyson Pitts, this week’s FCA Player of the Week for the 903 Volleyball Show! 🏐🔴 Addyson is a member of CHS Volleyball, Bulldogs for Christ, and FFA, and she makes a tremendous impact on those around her. She leads with positivity, energy, and encouragement, always cheering on her teammates and celebrating every success. Her contagious smile and personality lift those around her, and she is always one of the first to offer to lead the team in prayer. Addyson is a wonderful example of what it means to be a Christian athlete. She will be featured tonight on the 903 Volleyball Show with Harlen The Sports Guy and Pigskin Bob on 105.7 KYKX. The show airs Tuesday nights from 7:00–10:00 PM, with Addyson’s feature expected to air between 8:30–9:30 PM. Addyson attends First Baptist Church of Carthage and hopes to pursue a career in Dental Hygiene at Tyler Junior College. 📻 Tune in tonight and help us celebrate Addyson! #GoLadyDawgs #DawgNation

Congratulations to CHS Class of 2022 graduate Melissa Salazar on her graduation from the East Texas Police Academy at Kilgore College and the beginning of her career with the Carthage Police Department! 🎓👮‍♀️ Melissa was a familiar face in Lady Dawg athletics during her time at CHS, competing in soccer, cross country, track & field, and cheerleading. After graduation, she continued both her academic and athletic career at Tabor College, where she competed in soccer, track & field, and cheer while earning her bachelor’s degree as a double major in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Now, Melissa has reached another major milestone by completing the police academy and returning home to serve the Carthage community. From representing the Lady Dawgs to earning two degrees, competing at the collegiate level, and now beginning a career in law enforcement, Melissa continues to make Carthage proud. Congratulations, Officer Melissa Salazar! We wish you continued success as you begin this exciting new chapter. ❤️🤍 Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog! 🐾

Our 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration is happening THIS FRIDAY, September 11, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Carthage High School!

And come HUNGRY — you can skip cooking dinner Friday night! We’re expecting approximately 25–30 food vendors and food trucks, so there will be plenty of great food and something for everyone to enjoy.

Most vendors will be set up inside the CHS Commons, with additional vendors outside near the CHS letters or at the back bus ramp, depending on construction taking place behind the building.

Bring the whole family, grab some great food, support our vendors and students, and join us as we celebrate the cultures and traditions that make our community special. ❤️
