Carthage High School to Host FAFSA & Scholarship Night for Seniors and Families
Carthage, Texas ā Carthage High School will host a FAFSA & Scholarship Night on Thursday, January 22, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the CHS Library/Resource Center (LRC). The event is open to CHS seniors and their parents and is designed to provide hands-on support with college financial aid and scholarship applications.
During the event, families will receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a critical step in determining eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and guide families through the application process.
In addition to FAFSA support, teachers and staff will offer guidance on scholarship applications, including tips for writing strong essays and identifying important information that scholarship committees look for in applicants. This support is intended to help students present their best possible applications.
The evening will also mark the opening of the CHS General Scholarship Application. This single application is distributed to numerous local organizations that award scholarships to Carthage High School seniors, making it an important opportunity for students seeking financial support for postsecondary education.
Carthage High School encourages all seniors and their families to attend this informative and supportive event to take advantage of available resources and maximize scholarship and financial aid opportunities.
For additional information, families may contact the Carthage High School counseling office.

šš Education Practicum Student Spotlight šš
Weāre excited to shine the spotlight on Keāundra Rocquemore, a Carthage High School Education Practicum student who is making a big impact in Ms. Shalondra Rocquemoreās 3rd grade classroom at Libby Elementary!
Keāundra truly stands out as a future educator. She brings a genuine love for learning, a heart for helping others grow, and a natural ability to connect with students from all backgrounds. Her empathy and patience help create a classroom where students feel supported and encouraged every day š
Since starting her practicum, Keāundra has shown incredible growth in confidence and leadership. Once shy, she now steps up, takes initiative, and provides guidance and support to students when they need itāalways knowing how to balance encouragement with correction š
One of her mentorās favorite moments was watching Keāundra lead a lesson where students were locked in and fully engaged from start to finishāa true sign of a teacher in the making šāØ
As she continues her journey toward becoming an educator, Keāundra is encouraged to keep showing her passion and commitment to helping children succeedābecause those qualities already shine through in everything she does š±
š¬ One word that describes Keāundra: Kind š
Weāre proud of the work Keāundra is doing and canāt wait to see the positive impact sheāll continue to make in classrooms near and far.

š¶š Bulldogs Sing at the Highest Level! šš¶
Congratulations to Solijah Allison, Micaelah Burns, and Andrew Gwinn for advancing to the All-Area Audition this past Saturday at Tyler Junior College! Making it through multiple rounds in the All-State audition process is an incredible accomplishment.
Each fall, thousands of choir students across Texas begin the TMEA audition journey, and only a small percentage advance beyond the Region and Pre-Area rounds to reach this elite level. These Bulldogs truly represented Carthage with excellence, discipline, and heart.
ā Special congratulations to Micaelah Burns, who was selected to the 2025ā2026 Texas All-State Choir ā an outstanding achievement and a testament to her talent and dedication!
We are incredibly proud of our choir students for continuing to achieve excellence through music and performance.

š Practicum Student Spotlight š
We are proud to recognize Abigail Finley, an 11th-grade practicum student at Carthage High School, for the outstanding work she is doing in the classroom!
Under the mentorship of Lindsey Byrd at Baker-Koonce, Abigail continues to shine as a future educator. She takes direction exceptionally well and carries herself with a calm, welcoming demeanor that students naturally gravitate toward.
Since starting in the classroom, Abigail has grown tremendously ā quickly learning routines, building relationships, and recognizing which students need extra support during lessons. Her strengths in love, leadership, and relationship-building are evident every day.
One of the most rewarding moments has been watching Abigail gain confidence and become more engaged, stepping up to help students and take ownership in the classroom environment.
š¬ Advice shared with Abigail:
āContinue to remember that building relationships with your students is the key to success in the classroom.ā
š¤ One word that describes her: Compassionate
š Favorite Quote: āI touch the future. I teach.ā
Way to go, Abigail! We canāt wait to see the impact youāll make as an educator. šāØ
