Carthage ISD is thrilled to announce that Kassie Watson has been named the new principal at Carthage Primary School for the 2024-25 school year. With an extensive background in education and a passion for student success, Watson brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Bulldog family.
Watson holds a Master of Education from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has served in various educational roles throughout her 23-year career, including as a teacher, reading specialist/curriculum coach, assistant principal, elementary and high school principal, and district student services coordinator. Her dedication to fostering a positive learning environment and her commitment to doing what’s best for students make her an ideal fit for the Carthage Primary family.
“We are very excited to add someone to our leadership team with the experience and skill set that Mrs. Watson brings,” said Superintendent Jarrod Bitter. “She has a reputation for building a culture that is focused on student growth and achievement, and for supporting teachers in their professional growth to serve students well. Her leadership and vision will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the campus and the experience our students have at Carthage Primary.”
Watson will focus on building strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education in a supportive and nurturing environment.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Bulldog family at Carthage Primary,” said Mrs. Watson. “No matter where I have worked, I have always felt like my one job was to prepare our students for whatever comes next in their lives. What a huge honor it is to be able to be at the beginning of our Bulldogs’ education and get a front-row seat as we watch them start their journey. I cannot wait to work alongside the excellent staff already in place at Carthage Primary as we work to set a strong foundation for our Carthage students.”
Mrs. Watson has been married to her husband, Justin, for 22 years and they have two sons. Carter is a sophomore at the University of Arkansas and is a member of the Razorback Marching Band, and Cole is a senior at Tatum High School and will attend Louisiana Tech in the fall to play football.
Watson replaces Mrs. Jennifer Register who submitted notice of her resignation from Carthage ISD in March.
